چکیده
Transient Cerebral Ischemic A Hacks Associated with Subacute Bacterial Endocarditis • The case histories are given of 12 patients who had transient cerebral attacks in association with subacute bacterial endocarditis. The attacks are similar to those that accompany atherosclerotic occlusive cerebrovascular disease. All patients had manifestations of general illness, particularly fever, malaise, and elevated sedimentation rate. Subsequently, cerebral infarcts occurred in three patients and cerebral hemorrhages in four patients. A definite relationship between anticoagulant therapy and hemorrhage could not be established. متن کاملNeurobrucellosis as an exceptional cause of transient ischemic attacks.
We report a series of four cases presented with transient ischemic attacks (TIA) or ischemic stroke as the predominant manifestation of neurobrucellosis (NB). Three of the patients were 20-28 years of age, and one patient was 53 years old. They all used to consume unpasteurized milk or its products. Two patients had systemic brucellosis in the past and received antibiotic treatment. Other cause...
متن کاملIntra-Arterial Mechanical Thrombectomy: An Effective Treatment for Ischemic Stroke Caused by Endocarditis
Patients with stroke secondary to infectious endocarditis have a high in-hospital morbidity and mortality, with only one-third becoming functionally independent. Infective endocarditis is usually considered a relative contraindication to thrombolytic therapy. We describe 3 consecutive cases of acute middle cerebral artery occlusion due to infective endocarditis, who were all successfully treate...
متن کاملImmunohematologic characteristics of infection-associated cerebral infarction.
We evaluated 50 consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke to assess the prevalence of systemic infection preceding the neurological event. We analyzed the immunohematologic characteristics of patients with and without signs and/or symptoms of a preceding infectious process. Patients were examined less than or equal to 7 days after cerebral infarction and evaluated for fibrinogen, anticard...
